VANILLA CUSTARD WITH TERANA GROUND NUTMEG AND A TOUCH OF RUM

Ingredients
- A classic, smooth custard, enhanced with the warm, slightly spicy aroma of nutmeg and an optional touch of rum for a more mature flavor. 🥜🥛
- 500 ml of whole milk
- 4 large egg yolks
- 75 g of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon of TERANA Ground Nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons of dark rum (optional)
- TERANA Ground Cinnamon for garnish
Directions:
1. In a medium saucepan, warm up the milk over medium heat and remove from the stove before it boils.
2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks with the sugar until pale and creamy.
3. Slowly pour the hot milk over the egg and sugar mixture, whisking constantly to prevent the yolks from cooking.
4. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until the custard thickens and coats the back of the spoon. Do not let it boil.
5. Remove from heat and add the vanilla extract, TERANA Ground Nutmeg, and rum (if using). Mix well.
6. Strain the custard through a fine sieve into a clean bowl to ensure a smooth texture.
7. Pour the custard into individual containers and press a sheet of plastic wrap against the surface to prevent the formation of a skin.
8. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Sprinkle with TERANA Ground Cinnamon just before serving, if desired.
